Floating Space
'Floating Space' was the culmination of several of my earliest ideas. I was thinking about new ways to envision the 210 Studio Space and playing around with the ideas of perspective. I wanted to break free of the standard ways of looking at the studio- and the first thought that came to mind was to change the viewing perspective of the observer. We created a viewing platform six feet off of the ground and placed wooden shafts randomly throughout the space. It became immedieately clear that the piece required low light levels to succeed in changing the size and feeling of 210- so while the rendering at the right has a green glow, the actual installation has only the shafts, floating in a seemingly enormous field.
