Light Tree II
Light Tree:II was quickly but successfully executed. It was not a piece that required reshaping of the room, or many unique tools to accomplish. The only things necessary were fifteen lights and several pieces of pipe to create nodes for the lower ‘branches’. It was one of the few installations that only took a few hours to construct to a point that I was happy with. The piece was ideally suited to the size of Studio 210. It took several tries to get the dimensions and angles of the lower ‘boughs’ correct, but once that was accomplished the result was a tree of light that gave the viewer pause. More than many of the other installations, this piece made people think about light in a new way. It was one of the few pieces I created that was not intended to be viewed from a certain angle, but rather to be enjoyed as part of the entirety of the space. I could almost imagine putting park benches in the room for people to relax in such a space. Light Tree:II was included in the Lightscapes exhibition.
