This is what I started with. Actually, it was worse than this. The door was bought in Lewes from basically a junkpile. It was wedeged in between a shed and an ivy-covered wall. We almost had to dig the bottom of the door out of the dirt. I put it in the back of the Mazda and we got it back to D.C. in one piece. Well, almost. It had suffered some severe weather rot, and we got it up the elevator to our floor, but just outside the elevator we tried to pick it up on its' side (as pictured above) and it sort of... seperated. As it did, several different phyla of critter fell out and ran for cover. Not the best moment. Regardless, we managed to shove it back together and get it the 100 feet down the hallway and out onto out deck, where I let it sit for about a month to dry out some of the rot a little bit. |
