So this is that upper-left hand corner of the door when flipped around. The ants did a pretty good job, eh? I scraped out as much of the rotten, soft wood as I could, and then applied several liberal coats of a liquid-wood hardener. There were two main areas on the door that needed this kind of treatment, and as overly-dramatic as this sounds, it was touch and go at this point. I wasn't sure there was enough structural integrity left in the door for it to become a headboard. I guess when you buy a door for $40 from an outside garage sale, you takes your chances...
